THE ECUADENT FOUNDATION PARTICIPATES IN MACY’S
NINTH ANNUAL “SHOP FOR A CAUSE”

Macy’s helps local charity raise funds and awareness to the Ecuadent Foundation to provide life-changing health services to impoverished children in Ecuador.

BALTIMORE, MD– (May 19, 2014) – Macy’s and the Ecuadent Foundation invite customers to participate in Macy’s ninth annual national “Shop For A Cause” charity shopping event on August 23, 2014. Macy’s “Shop For A Cause” is a unique one-day-only shopping event created to support local charities’ fundraising efforts, and has helped raise more than $44 million for charities across the country since 2006. Customers can participate in this year’s event by purchasing shopping passes from the Ecuadent Foundation now.

“Macy’s is committed to giving back, both nationally and to our local communities,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer. “For the last eight years, Macy’s ‘Shop For A Cause’ program has provided our customers and associates a unique opportunity to show their support and give back to their local community organizations, while also enjoying great savings at Macy’s.”

Macy’s has provided the Ecuadent Foundation with shopping passes to sell for $5 each. Ecuadent will keep 100 percent of every shopping pass it sells. The more shopping passes sold, the more money Ecuadent will raise!

Pass holders will receive special discounts on most regular, sale and clearance purchases all day, but some exclusions apply.

Computers for Kids

While our medical team was busy operating this past February, engineer and Westminster, Maryland Rotarian Rodney Boudreaux was busy setting up a 6 donated computers in the Junta Civica de Santa Rosa (a community civic center) in Salinas, Ecuador.

In the U.S. before the mission, Rod assembled the computers and installed a plethora of children’s educational programs in both Spanish and English, making them ready-to-use upon arrival in Ecuador. At the community center, Rod instructed several Ecuadoran Navy cadets how to use and troubleshoot the computers so that they may pass the knowledge onto the children and others.  Take a look at Rod’s photos of the experience, below!
